Beat the Spread: CFB Week 11/NFL Week 10 picks

This season has just been so awesome. All of the storyline’s and great games have made 2019 the most entertaining season yet. From Lamarr Jackson to Gardner Minshew, we have seen a plethora of career changing seasons for individual players. I can’t wait to see the second half of the season.

Nick Foles is back. That has nothing to with my picks but I’m just very fired up about it.

Earlier in the week I tweeted that Antonio Brown was going to be an Eagle before the end of the week. I was wrong. Well, my source was actually wrong. Do I even have a source? Read this blog and there is a giant clue:

Pick: Chiefs -6 (@Titans)

Mahomes is back. All is good in Kansas City. All is bad in Tennessee. Chiefs roll in this one. I think it’s funny how fast we forget about how good Mahomes is. He was averaging 9.0 yards per pass play before he was hurt. Lets slow the brakes and get ready for the Chief’s inevitable run to the playoffs.

Pick: Giants -3 (@Jets)

The way that the Jets and Sam Darnold have been playing the last few weeks is atrocious. Darnold has no confidence. I’m not sure if Daniel Jones has much more confidence because he has thrown 8 interceptions. I love betting on a garbage bowl and I think the Giants win by a couple of touchdowns.

Pick: Bills +3 (@Browns)

Browns have not played up to the level they were hyped up to be. Bills still have a decent enough defense to slow the run game down enough to make Baker have to make plays. I think Bills end up winning. Cleveland burns.

Pick: Rams -4 (@Steelers)

Rams desperately need to win to keep pace with the rest of the NFC West. Steelers Mason Rudolph has shown flashes but I don’t think he’s good enough to score much against Jalen Ramsey and the Rams defense. Rams roll.

Pick: Packers -5 (@Panthers)

I told someone this week that Aaron Rodgers is arguably the most impressive player in the NFL this year. He is looking like 2014 Aaron and it’s terrifying if you aren’t a Packers fan. Christian McCaffery is going to have to do everything he can to help Kyle Allen and the Panthers keep pace with Rodgers. Oh, and I didn’t even add that Rodgers has a lethal running game now. Wouldn’t surprise me if we see them in the super bowl.

Picks: Vikings +3 (@Cowboys)

Two teams I dislike. Vikings played well against Kansas City and just came up short. The Cowboys beat the Giants handedly. I think this game will be close and the Vikings pull it out late. Hopefully by a touchdown. It still amazes me people think Dak is better than Carson Wentz.

College Football

Iowa +9.5 (@Wisconsin)

Georgia -16.5 (vs. Mizzou)

Notre Dame -6 (@Duke)

Oklahoma -13 (vs. Iowa State)

Boise State -13.5 (vs. Wyoming)

Hawaii -7 (vs. San Jose State)

No explanations needed for these picks. I have spent the entire week researching to have my best week yet. I’m really excited about Alabama vs. LSU. I want to see how Burrow’s reacts in the biggest game of his career. I’ll address this blog in my weekend recap coming Monday morning.

Gamble on, folks.

Weekend Recap: The Patriots lost

This weekend in sports was fairly slow.

As we await the #1vs2 matchup between LSU and Alabama, it was a somewhat boring day of College Football. Georgia vs. Florida was the best game of the weekend. Jake Fromm looked like a stud and Georgia got a huge W on the road.

The Baltimore Ravens beat the New England Patriots 38-27 this weekend. The Patriots struggled but held in tough. Lamar Jackson is very good.

The Cleveland Browns are surprisingly bad, for once. After so many years of expecting mediocrity, we are faced with the truth that we are somewhat surprised by the Browns for not winning in 2019. Odell Beckham is a clown and it’s a constant media circus everywhere he goes.

AND THEN Jermaine Whitehead takes to twitter to incite violence against someone criticizing his play! He was then cut by the team on Monday morning. WARNING: NSFW

I almost forgot this happened.

Korkmaz has had his struggles this season, but hitting a game-winner definitely gives him a chance to hang around the rotation a bit longer. Also, the Sixers are an excellent basketball team. That Portland game happens a year ago and they fall apart. Really impressive to see them fight back and steal a W on the road.

Some NFL Quick hits:

Eagles’ offense was great but need to get ball downfield. Obviously having Desean not play has hurt, and he couldn’t do much today. Disaster second half.

Bears’ offense is vanilla and Trubisky still can’t handle it. Found a spark late but never got a chance late to tie it.

Bills offense much sharper this week, albeit against the Redskins. Got the run game going.

Redskins are very bad. Ownership is the problem. Paul Allen can’t put together an NFL caliber roster. Dan Snyder won’t make necessary coaching hiring/firing decisions.

Colts obviously got off to fast start this season but the last two weeks the offense hasn’t clicked, and defense can only do so much. Brissett injured, Hoyer looked good. We’ll see if he can carry that into next week.

Minkah Fitzpatrick is looking like a genius move by the Steelers with every passing game. He is a straight playmaker. Especially in clutch situations. 96-yard pick 6.

The Chiefs, what a gritty win. Without Mahomes, it isn’t easy, but Moore stepped up to win the game. The offense really looked good for most of that game. Give credit where credit is due.

Panthers against Titans. McCaffery so good. MVP in my book. Singlehandedly willing the Panthers to wins this year.

DOLPHINS WIN! The Jets have been absolutely horrid since they beat the Cowboys. Darnold looks really bad. Pick in the RedZone was awful. Adam Gase is gone. They should consider drafting Tua.

See ya next weekend. Podcast 5 releasing Thursday.

Eagles-Bears Recap

The Eagles defeated the Chicago Bears 22-14 on Sunday and despite that, Philadelphia has some concerns going forward, especially at the wide receiver position.

DeSean Jackson returned from an abdomen injury that kept him off the field for six weeks, but didn’t play a single snap after the first drive. Alshon Jeffery had three drops, one coming late in the fourth quarter on a crucial third down. Jeffery also left the game and was seen on the sideline with his left ankle taped– he’s clearly not healthy going forward. Mack Hollins is a waste of a roster spot and Nelson Agholor is too inconsistent. JJ Arcega-Whiteside, a second-round pick, can’t get on the field for some odd reason. Howie Roseman decided not to trade for a wide receiver at the trade deadline and passed on Josh Gordon on the waiver wire.

For the Eagles to make the playoffs, they need to give Carson Wentz some playmakers. Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, and Miles Sanders can’t be the only weapons that Wentz has at his disposal. Philadelphia needs to sign a guy off the street and cut Mack Hollins immediately. Hollins hasn’t caught a pass since September 26th. He has 125 receiving yards and 126 penalty yards this season.

Jordan Matthews, Wentz’s best friend, is on the market, and knows the offensive scheme. JJ Nelson, the former Cardinals and Raiders receiver, is a free agent and can make plays down the field. Michael Crabtree, a former top 10 pick, is a free agent and would be an instant upgrade.

Roseman can no longer ignore the need at wide receiver. It’s obvious the Eagles offense is much worse when there isn’t a legitimate threat on the outside and defenses are taking full advantage.

In spite of having employees from Panera Bread at wide receiver, Wentz had a great performance down the stretch. He went 4/4 for 48 yards on third down during the Eagles’ last drive.

3rd and 3: to Alshon Jeffery

3rd and 13: to Miles Sanders

3rd and 3: to Zach Ertz

3rd and 9: to Dallas Goedert

Wentz earned his contract today.

To the Eagles front office, for goodness’ sake, please sign a wide receiver for Wentz. It’s been malpractice to ignore the position all season long. Do your job.

College Football Live Blog – Week 10

It’s another beautiful day for college football. I’m here to live blog the action.

WVU +18 (@ Baylor)

Purdue +3 (vs. Nebraska)

Wake Forest -7.5 (vs. NC State)

Syracuse -2 (vs. Boston College)

Miami +3 (@ Florida State)

Florida +6 (vs. Georgia)

Auburn – 18.5 (vs. Ole Miss)

This game is basically a highlight reel

Don’t know how I missed this one

LOVED Miami when I saw this game but of course I decided not too pick them this weekend.

Two dreadful weeks in a row for Notre Dame. Tough look.

Recapping my day so far:

WVU +18 (@ Baylor) – W (Thursday)

Purdue +3 (vs. Nebraska) – W

Wake Forest -7.5 (vs. NC State) – W

Syracuse -2 (vs. Boston College) – L

Miami +3 (@ Florida State) – W

Florida +6 (vs. Georgia) – L

Auburn – 18.5 (vs. Ole Miss) – N/A

Record: 4-2. Gonna end up on top for the day. Hopefully a good start to a great weekend for us.

Ready for Auburn/Ole Miss and Memphis/SMU. LETS GO

Auburn didn’t cover so I finish 4-3. Brutal. On to the NFL.

NFL Week 9-CFB Week 10 Picks

It’s that time of the week again. Time to get back on track. My NFL and CFB picks last week sucked. So, time to get back on the wagon. Here are all of my picks:

Pick: 49ers – 10 (vs. Cardinals)(TNF***)

The 49ers keep on rolling. So why would I not continue to roll with them. I assume this line will go to 10.5 by game time but I’d be confident with either pick.

Pick: Eagles -3 (vs. Bears)

Time to show some confidence in my guys. Carson Wentz looked great last week while Trubisky looked bad. Covering 3 at home against a bad offense should be no problem for the Eagles. Oh, and this man is back:

Pick: Panthers -4 (vs. Titans)

One of those picks that I hate which means I should hammer it. Panthers played bad last weekend and should perform better at home to get back on track.

Pick: Seahawks -6 (vs. Buccaneers)

Jameis Winston will throw 100 interceptions against this defense. Seahawks by 1000.

Ravens +3.5 (vs. Patriots)

If a team were going to beat the Patriots this season, the Ravens could be the team. They are playing great football. It is just a matter of what Lamar Jackson can do against the Patriots defense. I expect them to keep it a field goal game, nonetheless.

College Football picks:

WVU +18 (@ Baylor)

Purdue +3 (vs. Nebraska)

Wake Forest -7.5 (vs. NC State)

Syracuse -2 (vs. Boston College)

Miami +3 (@ Florida State)

Florida +6 (vs. Georgia)

Auburn – 18.5 (vs. Ole Miss)
